I am a computer scientist from San Francisco with an interest in front-end development and game design. I am fluent in Python, Java, C, and JavaScript and was part of a team that built an online 3D chess game in JavaScript. Outside of computers, I enjoy writing songs, playing basketball, and baking.

Motivation

I choose this dataset and the topic of car break-ins because it has personally affected me, my family, and my friends. Last year, I had my car broken into with luggage I had packed for a trip inside. When I got back to my car, all the luggage was stolen. I filed a police report, but nothing came out of it. I would like to visualize this data to bring attention to this problem, and to see the trends and areas in which it is most common. I hope my visualizations can help people think about where they park their car and what they leave in it to prevent incidents like the one that happened to me.
